Position: Rotating Equipment Technician:
The selected technician will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair activities on different types of rotating machinery while following company safety, quality and QHSE requirements. Candidates should have a strong mechanical background and practical experience working with rotating equipment.
The role requires technicians who can work independently as well as support other team members during equipment dismantling, inspection, repair and rebuilding activities.
Key Job Responsibilities:
The Rotating Equipment Technician will maintain and care for workshop equipment, machines, tooling and other resources used during maintenance operations.
Major responsibilities include:
- Stripping down, cleaning, inspecting, repairing and assembling rotating equipment.
- Rebuilding compressors, steam turbines and pumps.
- Performing detailed inspections of removed components.
- Carrying out dimensional checks and runout measurements.
- Conducting residual magnetism verification and visual inspections.
- Performing ERO inspections on burnishing areas.
- Completing clearance checks for rotating equipment.
- Recording repair activities and maintaining parts inventories.
- Informing the supervisor about parts that need replacement.
- Ensuring completed work is properly inspected and signed off before moving to the next operation.
- Maintaining a clean and safe workshop environment.
- Supporting company performance against the annual QHSE plan.
Technicians must demonstrate attention to detail because accurate inspection and measurement are essential when repairing precision rotating machinery.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Applicants should have practical knowledge of mechanical maintenance and rotating equipment. Experience with various hand tools and special rotating equipment tools is important.
Candidates should understand equipment cleaning and preservation procedures and have knowledge of dimensional inspection and precision measuring equipment.
The position also requires the ability to read and understand technical drawings for rotating equipment. A basic understanding of high-pressure hydraulic tooling, geometrical checks, dimensional checks and visual inspection procedures is expected.
Knowledge of rotor concentricity checks and basic NDT practices will also be beneficial.
Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are required. Candidates should also have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, along with basic mathematics skills.
Experience Required:
Applicants should have a minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance or rotating equipment.
Candidates with advanced skills and hands-on experience in compressor and steam turbine repairs will be particularly suitable for this position. Practical workshop experience involving dismantling, inspection, repair, measurement and assembly of rotating machinery will be valuable.
Educational Qualification:
The minimum educational requirement is:
- ITI in Mechanical Fitter
- NCVT certification
A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related mechanical discipline is preferred but is not essential.
Physical and Travel Requirements:
The position involves working in a workshop environment and may require light physical effort. Candidates should have sufficient physical ability to safely perform their duties in an industrial workshop.
The selected technician may also be required to travel across Middle East and GCC countries depending on project and customer requirements.
