ALCHEMY is currently hiring experienced Mechanical Technicians for an Oil & Gas opportunity in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This position is suitable for mechanical professionals with strong hands-on experience in rotating equipment, reciprocating gas compressors, maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhauling activities.
The role offers a salary of AED 3,250 plus offshore allowance and follows a 90 days on / 30 days off rotation. Candidates with relevant Oil & Gas, refinery, or petrochemical experience are encouraged to apply.
Job Position: Mechanical Technician – Oil & Gas:
The selected Mechanical Technician will be responsible for maintaining, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling mechanical equipment, particularly reciprocating gas compressors and their auxiliary systems. The position requires practical field experience and the ability to work safely and efficiently in an offshore environment.
Candidates should have a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and more than 5 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry. Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of rotating equipment within refinery or petrochemical facilities will be highly relevant for this position.
Key Technical Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Technician will be involved in a wide range of maintenance and repair activities. This includes hands-on work involving main bearing and connecting rod bearing replacement, cylinder valves, piston rings, rider rings, piston rods, lube oil pumps, and other compressor components.
Candidates should be comfortable performing corrective maintenance to identify and resolve compressor malfunctions. The role also requires practical knowledge of shaft alignment, lubrication systems, sealing arrangements, and inspection of mechanical components associated with reciprocating gas compressors.
Experience with reciprocating compressor packages and their auxiliaries is particularly important. Technicians should be capable of carrying out overhauling, repair, troubleshooting, breakdown maintenance, preventive maintenance, and predictive maintenance according to equipment requirements.
Documentation and Maintenance Planning:
In addition to hands-on mechanical work, the technician will be expected to follow maintenance schedules and prepare the necessary tools, materials, and spare parts before starting maintenance activities.
Accurate documentation is also an important part of the role. Selected candidates may be required to prepare detailed commissioning reports, maintenance records, equipment performance reports, and maintenance findings. They should also be able to provide recommendations for improving equipment reliability and performance.
The ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, equipment manuals, and manufacturer guidelines is essential. Technicians must follow equipment design specifications and recommended maintenance procedures when working on compressor packages and associated systems.
Safety and Work Environment:
Safety is a key requirement for Oil & Gas maintenance positions. Candidates should have a good understanding of safety procedures, hazard identification, and hazard analysis techniques. They must be able to identify potential risks before and during maintenance activities and follow established safety practices to help prevent accidents and equipment damage.
Because this is an offshore rotational position, candidates should be prepared to work in a demanding industrial environment while maintaining high standards of safety, equipment reliability, and maintenance quality.
