A leading organization is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician – Power Plant Maintenance for a permanent position in West Kuwait. Key Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for carrying out preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities on mechanical equipment throughout the power plant.
Major responsibilities include dismantling, assembling, aligning, coupling, and decoupling pumps and other rotating equipment. The technician will also perform maintenance on pumps, blowers, compressors, and motor-, hydraulic-, and pneumatic-operated valves.
The role also involves supporting maintenance activities associated with gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSG systems, and auxiliary equipment. Technicians may be required to inspect, clean, reinstall, and replace gas turbine air filters as part of routine maintenance activities.
Additional duties include maintenance of cranes and monorail hoists, troubleshooting mechanical equipment, and identifying faults to minimize equipment downtime.
The successful candidate should be comfortable reading and interpreting P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and equipment documentation. The position may also require participation in plant start-up and shutdown activities.
Accurate completion of maintenance reports, work orders, inspection records, and other required documentation will be an important part of the job.
Safety and Work Procedures:
Safety is a key requirement for this position. The Mechanical Technician must follow established plant safety procedures and work in accordance with Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and other site safety requirements.
Experience or training in high-risk activities such as confined space entry, working at height, and electrical safety is required. Candidates should understand the importance of following safe isolation procedures before working on mechanical equipment.
Qualifications and Experience:
Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience requirements:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of power plant maintenance experience, or
- ITI in Mechanical or equivalent qualification with at least 8 years of relevant power plant experience.
Strong practical knowledge of rotating equipment, pumps, valves, compressors, turbine auxiliaries, and mechanical maintenance procedures is essential.
Good spoken and written English communication skills are also required. The ideal candidate should be proactive, capable of working as part of a maintenance team, and confident in troubleshooting mechanical equipment.
